WAIVER, RELEASE, AND CONSENT AGREEMENT

Texas Homeschool State Track & Field Championships
May 8–9, 2026

By registering for and/or participating in the Texas Homeschool State Track & Field Championships, I, for myself and/or as the parent or legal guardian of a minor participant, knowingly and voluntarily agree to the following Waiver, Release, and Consent, to the fullest extent permitted by Texas law.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK

I understand and acknowledge that participation in athletic events involves inherent risks, including but not limited to serious bodily injury, permanent disability, paralysis, and death. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable, arising from participation in or presence at this event.

RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by Texas law, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless the Texas Homeschool State Track & Field Championships, event organizers, meet officials, volunteers, THESA, its coaches, officers, directors, board members, agents, contractors, and representatives, as well as the facility owner and its employees, from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, damages, losses, or liabilities of any kind, whether arising in contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise, arising out of or related to participation in or presence at this event.

INDEMNIFICATION

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the released parties from any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising out of or related to my participation or the participation of my child/ward in this event.

CONSENT FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE

I authorize the event organizers to obtain emergency medical treatment for myself or my child/ward if deemed necessary. I understand and agree that I am solely responsible for any and all medical expenses incurred.

For purposes of this agreement, “participant” includes athletes, volunteers, vendors, and spectators.

MEDIA RELEASE

I grant permission for the use of my or my child’s name, image, likeness, and performance in any photographs, videos, recordings, results postings, or other media related to this event, in any format now known or later developed. I understand that results and placements will be publicly posted and that it is not possible to opt out of results publication.

VOLUNTEER-RUN EVENT ACKNOWLEDGMENT

I acknowledge that this event is organized and operated by volunteers and that individuals serving in any capacity may not be professionals or experts. I accept participation under these conditions.

GOVERNING LAW AND VENUE

This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Venue for any dispute arising under this Agreement shall lie exclusively in the state courts of Texas.

CONDITION OF PARTICIPATION

I acknowledge that acceptance of this Waiver, Release, and Consent in its entirety is a mandatory condition of participation in the Texas Homeschool State Track & Field Championships.

By registering and/or permitting participation, I certify that I have read, understand, and voluntarily agree to all terms of this Agreement for myself and my family.

INTERPRETATION

Words in the singular include the plural, and words in the plural include the singular, as applicable.
